Day of Remembrance

The Phoenixville Social Concerns Committee was honored to support and assist in planning the dignified burial of Zachariah Walker in August 2023 at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Coatesville. More than a century after his tragic death, the ceremony brought together a diverse community to honor his memory, confront the injustice of his lynching, and embrace a shared commitment to healing and justice.
